Thumbtack is an online market for local services. Millions of customers use Thumbtack every year to get connected to local professionals with the unique expertise required to get a project done.

I joined Thumbtack in July 2018 as a full-time Experience researcher. In December 2019 I transitioned into management and from April - December 2020 I was the head of Thumbtack’s Experience Research team.

My work at Thumbtack ranged from exploratory field research studies to evaluative remote usability testing; qualitative, abductive data synthesis to quantitative survey analysis; establishing processes and tools to improve the day-to-day operations of the research team to training and advising others on how to conduct their own, robust research.

I led a large research, data science, and branding initiative in which we employed both qualitative and quantitative (MaxDiff analysis) methods to understand the core needs of our pros and customers and their relative importance, which in turn informed the company’s new 3-year vision: to become the only platform homeowners need to fix, maintain and improve their homes.
